from ‘BackCountry: The Gear Closet’, by Allison Woods, Gear Editor—Numa SWAT $89-$145, $145 as tested—Numa Eyewear caught my eye last summer at the OR show with their incredibly bendable frames, made from some super-secret Swiss plastic formula. These babies are indestructible. As many of you know, I am especially hard on gear, and the SWATs passed muster for me. While in many respects the SWATs are simply a solid, all-around great pair of shades, these were my favorite pair in the test. They’re a little utilitarian, but they work. The interchangeable lens system is easy to use, the glasses never seem to fog up, and the frames feel like they aren’t even there. There are several options for lens sets, but for $99, you can buy polarized lenses and the frames, and that’s a pretty good buy for a really solid pair of sunglasses.
