Numa Sport Optics is a new sport eye wear manufacturer that we stumbled upon at SHOT Show. The company, founded by a former sniper-scout and based in New York City, currently offers four different styles (starting at $80) - all boasting virtually indestructible frames.

Lightweight, tight wrapping, distortion free glasses with scratch resistant lenses are something that instantly grabbed my attention. Having worked in the sunglasses industry during college, I learned quite a bit about glasses and began to amass a nice sunglass collection. I have always liked my other sport glasses, except that their lenses scratched a bit too easily, and the frames came apart if you were too rough on them.

That is where these Numa Lo-Pros set themselves apart. I obtained a pair from their booth at SHOT Show, and haven’t gone far without them since. These glasses are so lightweight and comfortable, that they have quickly become my favorites. This is a collection that includes many big name and high ticket glasses, and Numa’s Lo-Pros have quickly become my go to shades and have not slipped once thanks to rubberized nose and temple pads.

The smash proof frames are made from a resilient material that can be pulled, bent, and even twisted like a pretzel without showing any signs of harm. They bounce back into form and are virtually indestructible. I have personally tested this out and they have held up as advertised. First I twisted them us as much as I could, then sat on them over and over again; trying to push them past their breaking point. Heck, I’ve flattened these things out and then sat on them; and even given them to my 3 year old son to see what he could do with them. They still look good as new, and are the most comfortable glasses I have ever worn.

According to the company, all Numa lenses are made of impact-resistant and shatter-resistant polycarbonate or JetShield technology, and provide 100% UV (A, B, and C) protection; with no optical distortion. Based on my testing, I can’t imagine any normal activity that could possibly result in damaging these Numas. Still, it’s nice to know that Numa Sport Optics offers a lifetime warranty against breakage and lens scratches under normal wear and tear. In case you’re wondering, Numa Sport Optics’ definition of normal wear and tear “includes but is not limited to: scaling a cliff face, downhill mountain biking or skiing, parachuting, hiking rugged terrain, dropping your Numas on a hard surface, accidentally stepping or sitting on them, and even letting your toddler play with them.” These glasses were made “to withstand the rigors of the field,” which has made them top notch sport glasses in my book. With a reasonable processing fee, they will repair or replace any damaged Numas. I don’t know of any other sunglass manufacturer that offers anything even close to that warranty.

Virtually indestructible, lightweight sport glasses with scratch resistant, zero distortion lenses- all covered by a lifetime warranty… well done, Numa Sport Optics!
